Navigating the Journey

In my prior experience, I always learnt best by doing and the TLL practicum gives me the perfect opportunity to connect theory to application by working on an ongoing project. Prior to HGSE, I've worked as a teacher and as a learning designer in the teacher education space and in both these roles, designing learning experiences was a key element. However, my experience was quite unstructured in terms of the theories, frameworks or tools that I used and the processes that I followed.

Post HGSE, I aspire to work as a learning experience designer in a higher ed/teacher education institution or in a corporate institution, designing engaging and relevant learning experiences for adults. Given my prior experience, my goal in this course is to gain a deep understanding of the core learning design process and to familiarise myself with commonly used and effective design frameworks and tools.

Below, I have broken down the skills I have to build as a learning designer and then mapped them to the courses or learning experiences at HGSE which will help me achieve the same. This process was quite insightful in helping me pick the projects that I'm interested in working on at TLL.

Based on this, given below are the projects I'm interested in working on and a short description of the skills I hope to build through the project:

1. Online Ed Leadership Course Design Build an understanding of the overall course design process, curriculum development and project management. I will gain experience in designing an online learning experience for adults.
   

2. New Field Study Development for HPL Build expertise in content and curriculum design and UX/Multimedia.
   

3. TLL Website Redesign Gain experience in UX and Graphic Design
   

4. Redesign of US Ed.Resource Guides Learning to work with Articulate 360 and building curriculum development skills

I've picked these projects in the order of preference through my conversations with Bill, Mary and my faculty advisor. Having said this, I am happy to be working on any project and I'm sure that all of them will provide me with an enriching and meaningful learning experience. I am looking forward to working with the TLL Team!
